Bulgaria: Bulgarian national costumes from Rhodope District with Devil's Bridge over the Arda river



The Devil's Bridge was built around 1500 by the Ottomans and it was part of an ancient road connecting the lowlands of Thrace with the North Aegean sea coast. There are many legends about name of the bridge- some say that you can see devil's footprint on the bridge, others- that you can see devil's face in the water below the bridge, or that the builders have had help from devil himself...
