Carl Schumann was soldier in East Berlin which was belonging to the Russian section after dividing Berlin in different sections after the WW2. In 1961 the German Democratic Republic began to build a wall between East and West Berlin. Card depicts how Carl Schumann decided to desert and leave the East jumping over the bareer the last minute before it was too late.
