Greece, Crete: Cretan man playing cards



Cretans are fiercely proud of their island and customs, and men often don elements of traditional dress in everyday life. Black is the color of mourning, and Cretans decided that as long as their island remained under turkish occupation they would wear black. In the end, after 300 years of occupation black clothes became like a tradition and are still commonly used.
