"Masscara" is made from Spanish words of "mass" (crowd) and "carra" (face). This festival , also called "Festival of Smiles" is one of most popular in Philippines and held the weekend nearest to October 19. Sender of card wrote a story about it: "A year before this festival started, there was a huge tragedy in Bacolod City and a lot of people died. A year after, people of Bacolod decided to commemorate deaths of their loved ones by wearing decorated masks and holding a festival for their honor.."
