Anciently, the luau was a lavish feast to honor royalty or foreign dignitaries, and Ali'i refers to ruling class in ancient Hawaii (sometimes called as "king"as well). So Ali'i Luau means "feast fit for a king". Here is one part of re-created Ali'i Luau- arrival of Ali'i 'aimoku- the king of the Big Island, Hawaii.
