USA, WW II years: Community in the Wilderness.



Pioneer Fannie Quigley (left) holds Stars snd Stripes with the help help of others, including the young daughter of a superintendent of Mount McKinley National Park, in World War II era Kantishna. The challenges of living in the remote Kantishna Mining District helped to forge strong ties between the fiercely independent men and women who called the region "home".
