China: Zhuang people




Zhuang people in Yunnan province practicing ningdong music using drums, made by example of Dong Son drums.
These drums originally were made by Dongs Son culture in Vietnam area in Bronze Age. They were important trade item, therefore have been found across an area from eastern Indonesia to Vietnam and parts of Southern China. 
These drums are both musical instruments and cult objects in Dong Son culture, made since as early as 600BC from bronze using lost wax method, weighting even up to 100kg. They are decorated with geometric patterns, scenes of daily life and war, animals and birds, and boats.
